+Marienkind+ Mailing List Entry # 5

Hey everyone,

We know it's been a while since we last sent something out to the mailing list, but as they say, "no news is good news," or at least it is in our case. Things have been rather quiet here in Philadelphia, but we've been steadily working on songs for the upcoming album, and we've been scoping out some of our options as far as mastering, packaging, and distribution. It's truly amazing how many options are available to independent musicians these days, and though nothing is set in stone, we're trying to take full advantage of all of the services available to us in order to make the album something that people will actually want to purchase.

Songwise, we've finally narrowed our list of about 24 tracks down to 16 strong candidates for the album, which is tentatively titled We Who Were Punished. That may sound like a lot of waste, but we've been stockpiling tracks since we first formed in 2002 and we've amassed quite a back-catalog of material. Due to their age, we've been spending a lot of time revisiting the past and attempting to update some of the tracks to reflect how we've grown over the past few years, but it's not always an easy thing to do. In many ways it's similar to the many movie "re-imaginings" that Hollywood is churning out these days-while polished and glossy, you can't help but feel that whatever it was that made the original special is missing from the new version.

Due to our high standards video-game addiction, nothing is completely finished yet, but it's probably safe to say that we'll be including updated versions of The Ending of All Things, Absence, and Lethe; all of which have original demo versions available in the DEMOnstrative section of the website. In the meantime, we've posted an advance version of Lethe to prove that we haven't just been playing video games since October. (especially not games titled Galactic Civilizations II and Elder Scrolls: Oblivion!)

The password for the DEMOnstrative area is ******

Until next time,

-Marienkind
